CityCop reissuing ‘The Hope In Forgiving & Giving Up Hope’ on vinyl, playing Township on 2014 tour (dates & LP stream)

by Andrew Sacher

CityCop

Ohio’s CityCop are about to give their 2011 album, The Hope In Forgiving & Giving Up Hope, a vinyl release for the first time this week (5/6) via Flannel Gurl (pre-order). CityCop fall somewhere between the melodic post-hardcore of Thursday and the more aggressive strain of ’90s screamo that predated them (but that Geoff Rickly happens to be no stranger to). But while that description will sound familiar to anyone who’s listened to a “New Wave of Post-Hardcore” band, what sets CityCop apart is their preference for acoustic guitars. The folk punk approach applied to melodic screamo? Weird enough that it just might work.

CityCop will also be touring in support of the repress soon, and that tour hits Chicago on June 4 at Township with The Please & Thank Yous, Mothlight and Churchkey. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

All dates are listed, with a stream of the album, below…
