After playing the Aragon Ballroom on May 5, tourmates Queens of the Stone Age and Chelsea Wolfe looped back to Chicago for a second show at the Aragon on Friday night (5/9). Save for a handful of tunes, QOTSA’s night two setlist was nearly identical to that of the first (no complaints here). Night two featured “Burn the Witch” instead of “I’m Designer,” “Misfit Love” as the replacement for “In My Head,” “Kalopsia” over “Fairweather Friends,” “I Appear Missing rather than “The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died,” and “Sick, Sick, Sick” versus “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret.” …Like Clockwork (2013) tracks such as “My God Is the Sun,” “Smooth Sailing,” and “I Sat by the Ocean” were especially crushing live. Chelsea Wolfe and her band also played a hell of an opening set, featuring tunes from last year’s Pain Is Beauty and her 2011 breakthrough Apokalypsis. Once a reluctant performer, Wolfe now owns the stage and her material only benefits from it. Pictures, some video footage, and QOTSA’s full setlist from the 5/9 show are in this post. More below…
