The Oarsman releasing ‘Writing House’ (MP3 premiere)

DOWNLOAD: The Oarsman – “First Flight” (MP3)

The Oarsman (aka Chicago’s Marcus Christopher Maloney) is slated to release his debut LP, Writing House, on September 24 via local label Tandem Shop Records. The album was composed, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Maloney in his own Ethnomusikology Studios. He played all guitar, piano, and some bass on the album, and was accompanied by Joel Heinrich (bass) and August Ogren (drums). We’re pleased to be premiering Writing House‘s lead single, “First Flight.” You can grab a download of the track above and/or enjoy a stream of it at the bottom of this post.

Maloney and co. have a bunch of U.S. tour dates lined up for this summer, but no Chicago shows at the moment. We’ll keep you updated on that front.

All tour dates, a stream of “First Flight,” and Writing House‘s cover art are below…
