The Sea & Cake

On Tuesday night (May 8), The Sea and Cake played a hometown show at the Empty Bottle with Portland’s Golden Retriever. Pictures and the setlist (of the headliner only) are in this post.

On June 9 at the very same venue, Neon Marshmallow are presenting a night of duos. The event will be headlined by Sea and Cake main men Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt. It also features pairs John Butcher and Thomas Lehn and Joe Mills and Olivia Block. Lehn plays synth in the John Butcher Group and the two are also in Thermal together, along with Andy Moor (of The Ex). Butcher has also performed as a part of Ex Orkest, a 20-piece big band version of The Ex, put together for performances at Holland Festival. Chicago-based composers Joe Mills and Olivia Block round out the bill. Mills is also a writer and artist, who has exhibited his work around the world. Block creates original compositions for concerts, site-specific sound installations, film, and performance. She has released multiple albums to date, the most recent being a 2011 collaborative effort with Greg Kelley titled Resolution. Tickets for the Duos show go on sale this Friday (May 11), at 10AM CST.

Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt also play NYC as a duo on June 30.
