Tobacco / Oscillator Bug at Lincoln Hall
Black Moth Super Rainbow main man Tobacco (aka Tom Fec) brought his brand of fuzzed out weirdness to Lincoln Hall last Wednesday (9/17) in support of his third release, Ultima II Massage, which hit stores earlier this year via Ghostly. Prior to his headlining set, tourmates Oscillator Bug played a few synth punk tracks, later followed by a brooding shoegaze set from The Stargazer Lilies. Setting up his gear up soon after, Fec played a clip of an old Jerry Springer episode that featured a man who’s only course of action after catching his girl in the act with his best friend was to write a list of things he would no longer do for him. The audience laughed as the guy read through the list, and you could spot Fec grinning in the shadows. After reaching ten on the list, Fec and his accompanying band members (also the touring members of BMSR) cut into “Streaker” which was accompanied by its creepy Eric Wareheim-directed video. Fec’s penchant for weird found footage was showcased in full with increasingly strange visuals that included everything from alien porn to nail polish infomercials (all standard fare at a Tobacco show). Around the time the band played “Heavy Makeup,” the front center crowd turned into a moshpit that remained fairly active until the end of the show, which closed off with the soothing BMSR track “Sun Lips.” Pictures from Lincoln Hall are in this post.
More of them lie after the jump…
