Xiu Xiu & Lonnie Holley played Graceland Cemetery — pics from ‘Into the Veil’

Like they’ve done in Brooklyn for several years, Atlas Obscura took over Chicago’s Victorian-era Graceland Cemetery on Saturday (9/22) for “Into the Veil,” an immersive night of music, performance art, and chills. Jamie Stewart capped off the night with a solo Xiu Xiu set, performed from the base of an ornate pillar. Outsider artist Lonnie Holley, who recently released MITH, his first album for Jagjaguwar, also played, as did Tamarie T and The Elektra Kumpany, Steve Hauschildt, Mark Korven and The Apprehension Engine, Ghost Pony (with aerialist accompaniment), Ellena Phillips, and more. Tribute was even paid to Inez Clarke, the subject of one of Chicago’s most famous ghost stories. Check out pictures from the evening in the gallery above.

Atlas Obscura hosts unique events all over the world, in cemeteries, theatres, mansions, and beyond. Check out their events page for a full listing of their upcoming events.
