Andrew Bird & the Hands of Glory expand tour, playing The Chicago Theatre in August
Andrew Bird @ Rough Trade NYC in June (more by Caroline Harrison)
Andrew Bird and his "new" band the Hands of Glory -- "an old timey acoustic configuration featuring Tift Merritt, Alan Hampton, Bowl of Fire alumnus Kevin O'Donnell, and Eric Heywood on pedal steel" -- have been touring throughout North America this summer in support of their new Handsome Family covers LP, Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of.... The album includes a cover of "The Giant of Illinois," which also appeared on 2009's great Dark Was the Night compilation. You can take a listen to Things Are Really Great Here... in its entirety at the bottom of this post.
Bird and co. have expanded their current tour to include a hometown show at The Chicago Theatre on August 16. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Saturday (7/12) at 10AM CST -- they're also on presale now, and the password is "HANDSOFGLORY".
All AB & the Hands of Glory dates and a stream of their new LP lie after the jump...
