Death Cab For Cutie // Hamilton Leithauser // The Handsome Family
The 2014 edition of A.V. Fest // Hideout Block Party began last night (9/5) with a bit of a delayed start due to rain. That initial delay also meant shorter sets from Jon Langford's new "Glam-Voodoo space rock project" Bad Luck Jonathan, The Handsome Family, and former Walkmen singer Hamilton Leithauser. Death Cab For Cutie's headlining set served as founding member // lead guitarist Chris Walla's final US show as a member of the band (he recently announced his departure following their current tour). Though Death Cab have a new album coming, which does feature Walla, frontman Ben Gibbard shared that they'd be drawing from their back catalog rather than playing new tunes on this run. The oldest material we got was "For What Reason" and "Title Track" from their 2000 LP We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes, as well as "We Laugh Indoors" from The Photo Album, and "Title and Registration" and "The New Year" from Transatlanticism. They also performed a handful of Plans favorites, as well as tunes from Narrow Stairs and Codes and Keys. Pictures and DCFC's complete setlist are in this post. Day 2 of A.V. Fest // Hideout Block Party 2014 is now underway.
Pictures from Day 1 of the festival and DCFC's full setlist lie after the jump...
