He Whose Ox is Gored

Seattle prog-doom crew He Whose Ox is Gored are streaming their new album The Camel, The Lion, The Child over at Invisible Oranges. The record is a very satisfying blend of early-Mastodon style riffing with a strong emphasis on melody and songcraft (IO's Joseph Schaefer compared them to early Alice in Chains, which is weirdly spot on). Throw in some psychedelia courtesy of the ever-present keyboards and can hit a bunch of disparate pleasure-centers. You can stream it below.

HWOIG are heading out on tour later this month. They will come through Chicago for a show at Reggies on October 24, where they'll be joined by Starless and Bubbles Erotica. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Be sure to check our IO-sponsored show calendar for more Chicago-area metal shows.
