According to the Chicago Tribune:

An intoxicated man fell over a banister to a marble floor 15 feet below at the Chicago Theatre late Saturday night, according to authorities.

A spokesman for the Fire Department said he was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 26-year-old man hit his head at about 11:30 p.m. and is in critical condition, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The fall appears accidental, Greer said. Initial reports stated the man fell from a third floor balcony but later reports said it was the first floor.

Messages left with the Chicago Theatre, at 175 North State Street, and the Madison Square Garden Company, which counts the Chicago Theatre as one of its venues, were not immediately returned.

The band Widespread Panic played its second of two scheduled shows at the concert hall tonight.

The band is scheduled to play another show at the Aragon Ballroom on Monday. The two Chicago Theatre shows and the Aragon show are all sold out, according to the band's website.

Hope he's alright.
