NXNE 2011, Yonge-Dundas Square (more by Natasha Ryan)
NXNE

Our friends to the north in Toronto are gearing up for the music portion of the annual NXNE festival to begin. The fest spans multiple venues, with a big, free outdoor performance by the Flaming Lips taking place in Yonge-Dundas Square (where lots of other bands play throughout the weekend too).

Check out Chromewaves for a pretty great guide to the music, Zulu Winter included. Peak at Torontoist for even more. Chicago's own Smith Westerns are playing a free unofficial show with Dusted courtesy of Vice and Jansport. You can RSVP for that HERE. Our good friends from M For Montreal and Panache are hosting an unmissable daytime boat party on Saturday (complete with Bleached), and Spinner also lists a bunch of other unofficial parties and activities. Check out the real fest schedyule at NXNE's site.

Radiohead, who just played Bonnaroo and Chicago, also plays Toronto Saturday night though their show is not actually part of NXNE.
