Today, Chicago "soul-trap" rapper/producer Tree has dropped off his latest project. It's a Scion-sponsored effort called The @MCTreeG EP and follows last year's promising-yet-fractured Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out mixtape. Unlike that tape, his eponymous EP is steadfast in its direction and sound. It opens with Tree's raspy voice over the seemingly slow-moving "Probably Nu It," which gets to grooving as the hi-hats slide in. That track precedes the booming "Woah," soul-sampling "Soultrappin / I Believe," and the somber "Stay Away." Tree then picks things back up with the celebratory "Grace" and finishes strong with the one-two punch of "Uh Million" and "God Like."
