'90s alt-rockers that. dog first reunited in 2011/2012, when they played two Music Hall of Williamsburg shows (and more). After that run, they went back in hibernation, but now they're back again. Earlier this month, they celebrated the 20th anniversary of their final album, Retreat from the Sun, with an LA show exactly 20 years to the day that it was released. They're also working on a followup to that album!

The band's lineup is currently Anna Waronker, Rachel Haden, and Tony Maxwell, and they funded the album Kickstarter. While Rachel's sister Petra (whose violin was an essential part of their sound) is no longer in the band, their other sister Tanya and their brother Josh are playing on this record. The record also includes contributions from Maya Rudolph, Pat Smear (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Germs), Josh Klinghoffer (current RHCP guitarist), Steve McDonald (Redd Kross, Melvins), Andrew Dost (fun., Anathallo), and Kaitlin Wolfberg. They also recorded with an orchestra.

The album is successfully funded, and they're planning tours, videos, and more recording. More pictures from the recording sessions and more info HERE.

that dog. have just been announced for the 2017 Riot Fest Chicago lineup, which, among other things also includes a Jawbreaker reunion! Last year, Rachel Haden contributed vocals to Jawbreaker drummer Adam Pfahler's band California's debut album. (In case you aren't already familiar, you also know Rachel's voice from Weezer's "I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams" and Jimmy Eat World's "Authority Song," among lots of other stuff. She also released the solo album July 6 last year.)

Anna Waronker is also joining (her husband) Steve McDonald on the new Melvins album.

Riot Fest Chicago happens September 15-17, and tickets go on sale today (4/19) at noon Central. Full lineup HERE.

UPDATE: that dog. will also perform Retreat From The Sun in full at Riot Fest.

Last month, that dog. released a 7" of outtakes from 1995's Totally Crushed. Stream "Ms. Wrong" from that 7" and watch the video for "Never Say Never" off Retreat From the Sun below. The band also just launched a new Instagram.
