The Men // Fuzz at Logan Square Auditorium on 10.18.2013
Last Friday (10/18), a pair of solid tours converged in Chicago for a big show at the Logan Square Auditorium----mates The Men and Purling Hiss, with Ty Segall's proto-metal trio Fuzz and their San Francisco buddies CCR Headcleaner. CCR got things started with a noisy, ramshackle set, only to be followed by a sound offering from the Dinosaur Jr.-echoing Purling Hiss. Ty's Fuzz were the highlight of the night, who ripped through their all-too-short pulverizing routine. I was holding out for their excellent cover of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man," but it didn't make its way onto their setlist. No matter though, as Fuzz absolutely destroyed even without it. The Men capped the night off in support of this year's New Moon, performing a handful of cuts from the LP as well as some from Leave Home and Open Your Heart.
